In the 1930's, Lino Lopez Sr. and his brother Manuel Lopez began their trucking company, investing on their first bob tail truck. They would hire people in the Corpus Christi area and take them to Waxahachie and West Texas to pick cotton from the fields. The workers picket cotton in their cotton sacks. Manuel Lopez weighed the cotton sacks and Lino Lopez Sr. hauled all the cotton picked by the workers to the cotton Gin. At the end of the day all workers were dropped back off at their homes and every year the business continue growing as they continue carrying more and more people to the fileds in West Texas. In 1958, Lino Lopez Sr. named the company Lino Lopez Sr. and Sons. Cotton was hauled from the fields to the cotton Gins. They also began hauling milo and corn from the fields to the grain elevators in the
surrounding
areas of Corpus Christi, Texas. Lino Lopez Jr. took over the trucking company in 1967 and Lopez Brothers Trucking Company was born. They continued hauling milo and corn from the grain elevators to the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas and Brownsville, Texas. They also hauled cotton seed from the cotton gin to the oil mills. They began hauling produce such as watermelons, onions, potatoes, and carrots from South Texas to different States. The business continued to grow after adding a line of gravel trailers to being hauling sand, gravel, and caliche from the surranding areas. Ricardo Lopez 'Ricky' son of Lino Lopez Jr. grew up in the Trucking business. He has been driving since the age of fifteen even though he has been on a truck practically since he was born. He has worked for his dad and managed the company as well. In 2008, Ricardo Lopez 'Ricky', which represents the third generation of the Lopez family in the Trucking Industry, began managing the company. He incorporated the business and founded the company Lopez Transport, Inc., hauling frozen products, produce, corn, grain, cottonseed, cotton bales, and much more. Lopez Brothers Trucking Co. continues to grow strongly and is being managed by Lino Lopez Jr. and his son Ricky Lopez.
